Oakland Raiders Sign Pair Of 2015 Seventh Round Selections

The Oakland Raiders continued their housekeeping after the 2015 NFL Draft and 2015 Rookie Minicamp, signing two of their late round draft picks on Monday morning according to a press release on the team’s official website. Continuing to finish the paperwork in finalizing the details with their crop of 2015 rookies throughout the month of May.

Seventh round picks Andre Debose and Anthony Morris both locked themselves into futures in Oakland this morning, taking two more players off of the list of rookies that general manager Reggie McKenzie needs to have sign pen to paper to make themselves official members of the Raiders. The special teams weapon and receiver in Debose the more high profile of the two seventh round picks, with Morris coming out of small school Tennessee State to an opportunity to make the Raiders 53 man roster if he can prove himself throughout the offseason program.

The team announced the signings of Debose and Morris with the following press release on their official website:

"The Raiders have signed seventh-round draft picks T Anthony Morris and WR Andre Debose, the club announced Tuesday.Morris and Debose are the second and third of the team’s 10 draft picks from the 2015 NFL Draft to sign their rookie contract, along with first-round selection WR Amari Cooper.Morris was selected 218th overall by the Raiders in the 2015 NFL Draft. He played four seasons at Tennessee State, appearing in 35 games with 11 starts over his career. As a senior, the 6-foot-7, 303-pounder started 10 games at tackle, anchoring an offensive line that gave up only 1.17 sacks per game.Debose was selected 221st overall by Oakland in the 2015 NFL Draft. In four seasons at Florida, he played in 42 games, making eight starts, and totaling 29 receptions for 543 yards and four touchdowns. Serving as the team’s primary returner, the 6-foot, 190-pounder posted 79 kickoff returns for 2,111 yards (26.7 avg.) and four touchdowns. He also returned 34 punts for 420 yards (12.4 avg.) and one touchdown."

With Debose and Morris signed, McKenzie now can turn his focus on the rest of the Raiders 2015 draft class as the crop of rookies should be expected to ink their first NFL contracts in the coming days. Mario Edwards Jr. and Clive Walford amongst the notable players who have yet to officially sign despite participating in 2015 Rookie Minicamp. All of the remaining seven players are near guarantees to sign with the team, their NFL futures to start in Oakland after being draft to become Raiders.

An exciting moment for any NFL prospect, Debose and Morris can now celebrate officially being in the NFL with rookie contracts in Oakland. It is only a matter of time before their fellow rookie teammates in the Raiders 2015 draft class enjoy a similar moment as McKenzie and the front office look to push forward with their rookie contract housekeeping before the next phase of the offseason program begins.
