Final thoughts

The Raiders are a team on the rise and finally have a coach that makes adjustments for his personnel. I haven’t seen such adjustments made since Hue Jackson was there as an offensive coordinator and head coach. Yes, the team has talent now but Jackson was able to get a 1,000-yard season Darren McFadden in 2010 and a 975-yard season out of Darrius Heyward-Bey.

Neither player has gone anywhere near that since so credit has to be given to Jackson for that. Now with a proven head coach in Jack Del Rio replacing Dennis Allen, it looks like he’s finally going to unlock Mack’s potential that gets him compared to Lawrence Taylor. Plus Del Rio has Musgrave dialing up running plays and passes down the field to get the most out of Carr, Murray, and Cooper.

That offense is already explosive but, wait until tight end Clive Walford hits his stride after missing so much of training camp. The only thing to worry about with this team is how young it is as Cooper showed us with his late-game fumble that opened up the backdoor ever so slightly for the Browns. But as far as coaching is concerned, Del Rio showed me against the Browns that he knows how to fix things to put the Raiders in the position to win football games this season.
