Oakland Raiders offensive line becoming one of the NFL’s best

Final Thoughts

While Webb is a black mark on an otherwise stellar offensive line, the Raiders are the only team in the NFL to have both of their Tackles, Center and Left Guard near the top of their respective positions. These four players have a cumulative grade of almost +21 per PFF. No other team comes close to having that much production out of their offensive line group.

Reggie McKenzie should be given a ton of credit for acquiring relatively cheap and productive offensive line players to this team. With the exception of Rodney Hudson, most of the Raiders talent on the line are playing on very affordable contracts and are playing above a replacement level so far this season. Mike Tice has been an excellent hire as one of the most experienced offensive line coaches in the league, and the decision to hire the former Vikings head coach to develop the trenches has been a big factor in this group doing so well early in the season.

Like I said, I know it’s early in the season, and there is a lot of football to play against some solid defenses, but everyone knows games are won and lost in the trenches, and the Raiders are looking like they have some of the toughest men in the fight for the trenches. If the offensive line can keep it up, the Raiders offense can continue to make the explosive plays they have been making in the past two weeks, which is vital for the success of a team that looks like they will need to win high scoring games if they are to keep climbing the standings in the AFC after their hot start to 2015.
