Williams is one of the oldest players on the Raiders defense. Last season’s free agent wasted no time emerging as a leader once Tuck got injured.

Williams addressed his emergence as a leader when the season concluded:

"“I may not have the experience that Tuck or Charles Woodson has, but I’ve been through a lot. I’m the oldest guy in the room, now. I just finished my sixth year, but I’ve been through coaching changes and scheme changes and I can share the lessons I’ve learned. I believe I can help this team find answers.”"

Williams also said the key to being a leader is consistency and setting a good example. Something Williams has done well over his six-year career.

The incumbent starter at nose tackle could continue his leading by example.
