Oakland Raiders punter Marquette King has pitched in on the efforts to recruit Marshawn Lynch.

The buzz has been growing after Greg Papa hinted last week that the Oakland Raiders were talking to a running back which did not play in the NFL in 2016. That running back was later discovered to be the Oakland native Marshawn Lynch.

Since that time, the recruiting efforts amongst Raider Nation to woo Marshawn Lynch has grown exponentially. Raiders punter Marquette King is the latest one to jump in on the bandwagon.

A couple of days ago King tweeted this:

The message was pretty obvious: King was getting back cleats hung up by Lynch, meaning that he is another voice in favor of the running back postponing retirement and coming back to play for his beloved Raiders.

Lynch was born and raised in Oakland and it is not news he loves the Raiders, his childhood team. He wears Raiders apparel, has the strongest connection with the community and even runs a foundation to help kids there.

By the way, go check out his foundation and donate if you haven’t already.

So ending his career playing for the Raiders would be the absolute perfect way to ride into the sunset and Lynch appears to be seriously entertaining the idea. Multiple tweets from different sources have confirmed this:

And Lynch threw more gasoline on the fire when he retweeted this a few days ago:

This is particularly intriguing because Marshawn is not very active on twitter (he only has four tweets after that retweet), but he made sure his followers became aware of this one.

If you check the sixth song in his playlist, you will understand why RaiderNation is freaking out and losing their minds already with the possibility of Lynch running behind one of, if not the best offensive line in football. With Marshawn manning the backfield, the Raiders are surefire contenders for the Super Bowl.

Our good friend James Arcellana even called dibs on the craziness when the news broke:

Marshawn, however, has a little issue to address first. He is still tied contractually to the Seahawks, so if he decides to wear pads on Sundays again, he needs to get rid of them, either being traded or more likely asking to be released.

It has been reported that he has met with the Seahawks brass, but has not (yet) requested his release. However, nobody is trading for Lynch and keeping him on their books makes absolutely no sense for Seattle, so if he really wants to play for the Raiders, his release from is just a matter of time.

So the bottom line is “if” Marshawn really wants the physical punishment of playing in the NFL again, which is especially hard at his position.

Apparently he does.

And Marquette King quickly jumped in to support the idea, alongside, well, everybody else.
