Week 12

Against the defending NFC champions, Carolina Panthers, Mack had his signature performance of the entire season, in what proved to be arguably the most thrilling game of the 2016 season.

Mack had 3 tackles, 1 interception returned for a touchdown, as well that sealed an Oakland Raider victory. Mack was the first player since Charles Woodson in 2009, to record a sack, interception, forced fumble, fumble recovery and a touchdown all in the same game.

This single-game performance essentially catapulted Mack into the Defensive Player of the Year conversation.

Week 13

At this point in the season, Mack was showing his true value to the Raiders, as well as making a case for being the best defensive player in the entire NFL.

Against the Bills, Mack displayed another All-Pro performance in which he had 7 tackles, 1 sack, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery, and also a single pass defensed. Mack was able to impact one throw which led to an interception, as well as putting the game away with another strip-sack.

Week 14

On the road against the Kansas City Chiefs, the Raiders were facing a short week, a Derek Carr broken pinky and also below freezing temperatures.

Despite that, Mack came ready to play. For the game, Mack had 3 tackles, 1 sack, as well as another forced fumble, which led to a turnover. Despite the defense putting the Raiders offense in prime position, it appeared that Carr and co. could not find their groove, which led to the 21-13 loss.

This loss broke a six game winning streak, but this also extended Mack’s eight game sack streak, which put him in elite company.

Week 15

After the emotional loss to the Chiefs, the Raiders would bounce back, and defeat the then San Diego Chargers. This victory clinched a playoff berth for the Raiders, which would break a streak of 13 consecutive season playoff drought.

Although Mack did not register a sack, effectively ending his sack streak, he did however lay a ton of heat on Phillip Rivers by getting in 2 quarterback hits, as well as 4 tackles.

Week 16

Coming back to Oakland for the final home game of the season, the Raiders would defeat the Indianapolis Colts.

The first two and a half quarters of play was a display of great defense, until Derek Carr broke his leg. This seemed to completely shake the core of the entire roster, which led to busted plays, as well as turning sure sacks, into touchdown passes.

Despite that, the Raiders still held on for the win, with Mack chipping in 3 tackles and 2 quarterback hits.

Week 17

With Carr now done for the rest of the year, it did not seem like it was meant to be the Raiders year despite all of the nail-biting wins. The Raiders would end up losing their final game by a score of 24-6.

Mack had another great game in terms of run support, but it obviously was not enough. Mack finished the game with 5 tackles (3 for a loss) and also a single quarterback hit.
