Donald Penn vs. Terrell Suggs

Keeping EJ Manuel upright will be key for the Raiders to get to 3-2 versus the Ravens. The toughest matchup for the Silver and Black has to be out on the edge. Oakland left tackle Donald Penn will have to contain a future Pro Football Hall of Famer in the physical freak that is Terrell Suggs coming off the edge.

Suggs is ageless and is the leader of this defense. Ray Lewis and Ed Reed may be retired, but Suggs plays with a passion defensively that lets the Ravens forever know where their identity lies. This highly revered playmaker for the Ravens is still one of their most productive players.

Penn has to protect Manuel’s blind side against this future Pro Football Hall of Famer in Suggs. This is a huge test for Penn this season. We could liken it to the challenge he faced in Week 1 versus Brian Orakpo of the Tennessee Titans. Penn kept Orakpo in check and the Raiders got their first win of the season.

This feels like a man-on-man matchup where each will get their own. Penn will win some snaps and so will Suggs. Let’s just hope that Suggs doesn’t force a strip sack or a fumble on a run to the left side of the field. He’s an impact player, but Penn is still one of the better left tackles in all of football. It’s great on great, so you have to love that as a football fan.
