The Oakland Raiders were blown out by the New England Patriots on Sunday in Week 11, 33-8. Here are all the highlights, the game recap and the final score.

With presumably their AFC playoff dreams on the line, the Oakland Raiders went to Mexico City and played a terrible football game. The New England Patriots beat the Raiders before the Silver and Black even got off the plane. It was bad, like 33-8 bad.

New England would get on the board first in this one when quarterback Tom Brady found wide receiver Danny Amendola in the back of the end. The Patriots would then force an interception of Derek Carr on the ensuing possession. From there, all the momentum was in New England’s favor and there was no hope whatsoever for the Raiders to even think about taking it back.

Brady carved up this awful Raiders secondary like a Thanksgiving turkey. He was playing chess, while the Raiders defensive backfield wished it was playing checkers. The Raiders were outclassed in every situation in this game. And we thought the Week 3 loss to the Washington Redskins on Sunday Night Football was bad!

Oakland has made it 10 games this season without forcing an interception. At this rate, it wouldn’t be totally shocking to see the Raiders go 0-for in the pick department in 2017. It was a poorly designed game plan for the Raiders in all three phases. The coaching staff continues to get work senselessly. It’s getting the minimum out of its talent.

If there is any consolation prize to this debacle in Estadio Azteca, two of the Raiders’ biggest division rivals also lost on Sunday. The Kansas City Chiefs lost in overtime to the New York Giants. That was New York’s second win of the season. Kansas City is only 6-4, having lost four of its last five games. The Denver Broncos also lost, albeit by a lesser margin at home to the Cincinnati Bengals. Denver has lost six straight games for the first time since 1990.

Because teams like the Buffalo Bills decided to start five-pick Nathan Peterman on Sunday, yes, the Raiders are still only a game back of an AFC wild card spot at 4-6. Then again, the Raiders don’t have the tiebreaker over the Bills. Reminds us all of another bad Raiders’ loss this season.

New England rolls on to 8-2 on the year. It’s pretty much the Patriots, the Pittsburgh Steelers and then everybody else in the AFC. For a team that had two weeks to get ready for this game, it just looked like the Raiders went on a mid-November vacation. You have to be well-rested for Thanksgiving, right? Because spending time with family and eating food is hard. Do better, Raiders!

Three Stars

  1. Tom Brady: Brady completed 30 of 37 passes for 339 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions.
  2. Brandin Cooks: Cooks had six receptions for 149 yards and a 64-yard touchdown grab.
  3. Patrick Chung: Chung had nine tackles, eight solo and a fumble recovery.

Highlights

While the Raiders just ran into a total buzz saw in New England, at least they will be getting a bad Broncos team at home. Let’s hope the Raiders put forth a better effort next Sunday. For now, they are still alive in the AFC playoff mix. It’s not easy being at or above .500 in the AFC.
