Oakland Raiders wear custom spikes for #MyCauseMyCleats 2017
By John Buhler

Many Oakland Raiders will be wearing custom spikes for #MyCauseMyCleats 2017 on Sunday. Here are some of the players who will be participating this year.
The NFL has become more lenient in recent years for its players to express themselves. This year, we’ve seen team celebrations come back into the fold to make the game we all love more enjoyable. Last season saw the start of something really good for the league’s brand. #MyCauseMyCleats was a huge hit last year. Many Oakland Raiders will be wearing custom spikes to support their favorite charities, foundations and causes in Week 13.
The NFL had earmarked Week 13 as the week for what is known as Cleat Week to be in full effect. It’s something everybody can get fired up for, no matter who you cheer for on Sundays. Notable Raiders including quarterback Derek Carr, defensive end Khalil Mack and outside linebacker Bruce Irvin are just some of the few that will be wearing custom cleats on Sunday versus the New York Giants.
Carr will be honoring his son by wearing a pair of spikes with Valley Children’s Hospital proudly displayed on it. Mack will be rocking a awesome looking pair of purple and chrome spikes for the Lupus Foundation of America. Irvin is going with some lime green kicks to help spread mental health awareness.

Cornerback T.J. Carrie and running back Jalen Richard are raising awareness for heart health with their cleats. Tight end will be donning a pair of bright blue spikes for The Punt Foundation to end pediatric cancer. Long snapper Jon Condo will wear a pair of purple cleats for the Emily Whitehead Foundation to end pediatric cancer.
We have to give thanks to Raiders equipment manager Bobby Romanski for getting all these amazing cleats ready for #MyCauseMyCleats week on Sunday. These spikes look so cool, but more importantly, help with causes beyond the NFL gridiron.
Here is a gallery of the players getting their cleats at practice this week on Raiders.com. An overwhelming number of Raiders are participating in #MyCauseMyCleats. You have to love this, knowing that our favorite players want to use their NFL platforms for a cause bigger themselves. It’s going to be a great weekend of NFL football, no doubt.

#MyCauseMyCleats is still a young tradition in the NFL, but hopefully it is here to stay for the foreseeable future. It’s great to see everybody wanting to come together to help elevate the lives of others. Good job by you, Raiders. Well done!
