As a Raiders fan for nearly 30 years, becoming the new site expert of this glorious website is literally a dream come true.

My love affair with the Silver and Black started when I was only seven years old, and it was thanks to a Chargers fan that it came to be. My oldest brother, Bobby, gave me a 1988 Topps Bo Jackson rookie card, you know, the one where he is sitting on the bench looking up into the sun. Maybe it was the Raiders helmet at the bottom of the card, as I have always loved the team logo, or maybe it was because my brother and Dad were Chargers fans, and my Mom, loved the Broncos.

Either way, I was hooked, and for the last 30 years, I have spent every fall rooting on the Silver and Black. Sure, there have been some rough times, but true Raiders fans only look to the next game, no matter what the team’s record is. For me, being given the opportunity to spread Raiders news and analysis to the best fans in professional sports is not only an honor, but it is the pinnacle of my sports writing career so far.

More from Las Vegas Raiders News

Growing up outside of New York City, Raiders fans were few and far between in a seven-year old’s circle of fans. There were some of my parents’ friends, who I would see donning a Raiders hat every now and again. In addition, we only got the national and local games back then, so I had to wait until my Dad brought home the newspaper on Monday to see if my beloved Raiders had won or not.

Though I lived in a small suburb of New York City, my family did have some ties to the Bay Area. My cousin, Walt Weiss, was a Rookie of the Year shortstop for the A’s back in 1988, and we got to see him play in three consecutive World Series with the Bash Brothers.

All we can do as Raiders fans is continue to grow the fan base, and we do that by showing why we are the most passionate in pro sports. In my house, even my twin two-year old sons are Raiders fans, and my four-year old is about as die-hard a fan as you can get at that age.

Just Blog Baby has had a tremendous history, and I welcome the opportunity to carry that torch for as long as I serve as the expert on the site. There have been incredible experts in the past, and I have some big shoes to fill, but I am certainly up to the challenge.
