The Raiders might have found their long-term kicker

Watching Sebastian Janikowski suit up for the Seattle Seahawks after 18 seasons with the Raiders was one of my worst days as a Raider fan. After Janikowski, the Raiders powered through Giorgio Tavecchio, Mike Nugent, and Matt McCrane before signing Daniel Carlson.

The Raiders signed the Auburn alum after he was waived by the Minnesota Vikings. Carlson has had an outstanding rookie year during his time with the Silver and Black. In Week 11, he kicked a 35-yard field goal as time expired to score the game winner against the Arizona Cardinals. For his feat, he picked up the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week Award.

In this week’s debacle against Kansas City, Carlson scored the lone three points, easily making a field goal from 50 yards. He’s now perfect on field goal attempts of 50 yards and hasn’t missed an extra point in his tenure. It would seem that the Raiders have found their long term successor to Janikowski.
