The 2017 NFL Draft brought Gareon Conley into the fold, as the Raiders selected the former Ohio State Buckeye in the first round. In his rookie season, Conley failed to make an impact, as he was injured for most of the season, and that really hindered any chance he had to prove himself at the NFL level.

This past season, Conley again struggled early on, but towards the second half of the season, he became one of the best cornerbacks in football. His progression is something to be excited about, as is the potential of Daryl Worley and Nick Nelson, two very young cornerbacks who will be expected to produce in 2019.

Even with the depth at the position, Oakland needs to bring in more talent, and would be wise to utilize an early second rounder on Amani Oruwariye from Penn State. Some feel he is the best cornerback in this draft class, but is not getting as much pub as guys like DeAndre Baker, Byron Murphy, or Trayvon Mullen, and could fall to the Raiders at No. 35 overall.
