Running Back

Josh Jacobs, Jalen Richard, Chris Warren III, Doug Martin, Keith Smith (5)

Prior to the 2019 NFL Draft, Marshawn Lynch decided it was time to hang up his cleats, ending what could be a Hall of Fame career. It did not take the Raiders franchise long to replace him, as they selected Alabama running back Josh Jacobs with the No. 24 overall pick in the first round, and he has the talent to be a good one.

There is not much wear on the tires when it comes to Jacobs, and he has that three-down ability that Jon Gruden covets. In addition to Jacobs, the Raiders running back room should feature Jalen Richard, who was re-signed this offseason, and 2018 preseason NFL rushing leader Chris Warren III

On Tuesday, this position group suffered a terrible injury, as Isaiah Crowell  is out for the season. That cleared the way for the Raiders to bring back Doug Martin, who rushed for over 700 yards last season after replacing the injured Lynch as the feature back.

At fullback, this will get interesting this summer, as undrafted free agent Alec Ingold will challenge Keith Smith for the job. Ingold has everything you look for in a fullback in Gruden’s offense, and is a lot cheaper, so that is another battle to keep an eye on.
