First quarter MVP: Rodney Hudson

In four seasons with the Oakland Raiders, center Rodney Hudson has allowed just two sacks. Hudson, who truly is the unsung hero of the team, certainly deserves the first quarter MVP accolades, as through the first four games, he has continued his streak of keeping his quarterback clean.

Hudson, who is certainly a fan favorite for his ability to take on any player thrown at him and to play through pain definitely deserves the honor bestowed upon him. Earlier in the offseason, I wrote about how Hudson was the most underrated player, as he was passed up for the Pro Bowl and All-Pro honors despite being the best at his position year in and year out.

His hard work is finally starting to garner more attention, as his Pro Football Focus grade of 90.5 was the highest out of all 32 centers in the NFL and earned him a spot on the PFF team of the week. For a team with so many questions up front to start the season, the Raiders certainly have a keeper in Hudson, who they paid big money to retain for the foreseeable future.
