2020 NFL 7-round mock draft: Raiders bolster edge, WR in 1st round
Jonathan Abram looks to be a foundational piece roaming the Raiders secondary from the safety position for years to come. However, Karl Joseph will become an unrestricted free-agent this offseason and the Raiders don’t appear to be sold on the guy as they’ve declined his fifth-year player option for the 2020 season.
Richard Lecounte III is a ball-hawking safety who possesses natural instincts. He operates primarily in zone coverage and is a true enforcer in stopping the run. He sheds blocks fairly well, but his ability to tackle in open space is somewhat concerning.
This year at Georgia he’s totaled 29 tackles, one interception, one pass defended and one forced fumble. Not the ideal safety you’d like matched up in man coverage but does have room for improve in the near future.
Pros:
- Anticipation
- Vision
- Factor in stopping the run
Cons:
- Tackling
- Range
- Thin frame
