Raiders: It is time to start discussing Josh Jacobs as NFL MVP

Josh Jacobs is on pace for 2,000 rushing yards, would that be enough?

Right now, the Raiders still have five opponents left, with the Los Angeles Rams waiting for them this Thursday night. Let’s say, for argument’s sake, that Jacobs can average about 150 yards on the ground for each of those contents.

That would be roughly 750 rushing yards, which let’s add to his current total of 1,303. In total, that’s 2,053, which is just enough to eclipse that monumental feat.

First of all, some perspective on that number: if Jacobs reaches that total, that will give him the greatest individual season for a running back in Raiders’ history. Heading into Thursday, Marcus Allen still holds that record with 1,759, but it’s entirely possible that Jacobs surpasses him within two to three weeks.

Especially when you consider that Jacobs has been unstoppable as of late. More than just rushing yards, Jacobs’ impact reveals he’s been pivotal in moving the chains and keeping the Raiders’ offense alive. According to CBS Sports, Jacobs leads the league in first downs from scrimmage by a mile. Jacobs has 85, and the next closest is Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill with 64. Jacobs’ impact is simply undeniable.

It should be noted, however, that the Raiders’ two upcoming opponents have relatively good run defenses, which should be kept in mind.
