Las Vegas Raiders: Realistic quarterback options in 2023

Option 1: Tom Brady

Tom Brady is the greatest football player of all time, and he was almost a Raider in 2020, before ultimately signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This offseason, the Brady-Las Vegas partnership may actually come to fruition.

It is a move that will likely be speculated ad nauseam throughout the next several months. It almost makes too much sense. The Raiders are stacked offensively (albeit an offensive line upgrade is needed) and the connection with McDaniels and Brady are obvious. You have to assume that Tom wouldn’t mind living in Sin City during his final chapter, either.

As attractive as acquiring the GOAT may be, however, it would be a much tougher decision for the Raiders than Brady, at this stage of his career. Brady has, at best, looked like Father Time may finally be on his heels this season.

Brady has thrown just 21 touchdowns compared to 9 interceptions this season, on pace for his lowest total since 2003. Even with Mike Evans and Chris Godwin to catch passes, Tampa Bay has struggled mightily to move the ball with any consistency this season. While that can partially be blamed on the injury-riddled Bucs’ offensive line, the Raiders have not exactly been great when it comes to pass-blocking this season.

Continuing on, the Raiders have a chance to find a cheaper quarterback than Carr and use the extra salary to improve defensively. Brady does not exactly fit that mold.

While Brady is a realistic option for next season, both parties would have to be all in. Similarly to 2020, though, it is unclear whether or not the Raiders would be willing to take part in the would-be collaboration.
