The Las Vegas Raiders got strong play from Jarrett Stidham in Week 17, and for Davante Adams, it was business as usual.
During the Las Vegas Raiders 37-34 overtime loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, one thing was very clear, and that was Jarrett Stidham was more than capable of running the offense. Making his first NFL start against one of the best teams in the NFL, Stidham led the Raiders to over 500 yards of total offense and seemed in complete control from the outset.
The biggest storyline going into this game was not only Stidham starting over Derek Carr, but how Carr’s best friend, Davante Adams would react. Remember, Adams came to Las Vegas to play with Carr, a man he starred with at Fresno State, and you would think there would be some dropoff as the team made the change at quarterback.
The furthest thing could have been true.
For the game, Adams finished with seven catches for 153 yards and two touchdowns, showing no signs of slowing down just because his best friend lost his starting job. In fact, Adams looked more comfortable in the offense than he has in weeks, as Stidham was doing a nice job of getting everyone involved, and taking big shots to Adams down the field.
Raiders must keep Adams around in 2023 and beyond
Now the attention turns to keeping Adams in the Silver and Black in 2023, and beyond. He has stated that Carr is the reason he is a Raider, but could the team moving on from Carr mean that Adams wants his way out of Las Vegas as well.
Based on how he played on Sunday, I would think that Adams is not going anywhere, anytime soon. He played with passion and had nothin but glowing things to say about Stidham after the game, once again showing his incredible professionalism
Las Vegas Raiders: 2023 New Years resolutions that must be kept
In the midst of a failed 2022 season, the Raiders will have some things to change in 2023. These will be at the top of the list.<...
Sure, Carr and Adams are close friends, and yes, it must have hurt him to see his guy lose his starting job, but Adams is a Hall of Fame talent who is still in his prime. Keeping him has to be priority No. 1 next offseason, and I believe he will be in the Silver and Black for years to come.
