The Oakland Raiders will be down not one, but two wide receivers versus the New York Giants now that Amari Cooper has been ruled out for Sunday’s game.

We are two days out from the Oakland Raiders’ Week 13 home game versus the New York Giants. The Raiders are significant favorites in this game, as the Giants have certainly fallen on hard times this season. However, the Raiders will be without its two best wide receivers on Sunday in the suspended Michael Crabtree and now the injured Amari Cooper.

Oakland has known that Crabtree was going to be suspended for this game for his role in the fight with Denver Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib since Monday. Both were initially suspended two games, but were able to knock that done to just one by winning their appeal.

However, it wasn’t until Friday that Cooper was certainly going to be out for the Raiders. In Oakland’s 21-14 win over the Broncos last week, he had to exit the game after a hit by Denver safety Darian Stewart. Stewart would be slapped with a five-figure fine on that cheap shot, but all that money wasn’t going to go towards Cooper getting back on the field. Cooper hurt his ankle on the play and suffered a concussion.

Here is the Raiders’ injury report. Eight players were listed. Cooper is out. Four players are questionable. Three players listed just missed practice for non-injury reasons.

The four Raiders that are listed as questionable are cornerback David Amerson, right guard Gabe Jackson, linebacker Cory James and wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson. Amerson had missed a bunch of games this season due to a myriad of injuries. He dealt with concussions earlier in the year, but is now working his way back from a foot injury. Could Amerson play on Sunday? We’ll see.

Jackson and James have regularly been on the injury report for the Raiders of late. An ankle injury he’s been dealing with had Jackson limited at practice all week. The knee held James out of practice on Wednesday, but was a limited participant on Thursday and Friday.

The one to really pay attention to is Patterson. He was questionable last week with the hip. Patterson did suit up for the Silver and Black versus Denver, but Oakland really needs him this week. Though he’s not a possession receiver, his downfield speed could be key in the receiving game for the Raiders on Sunday, especially with Crabtree and Cooper out.

Outside linebacker Bruce Irvin, running back Marshawn Lynch and defensive end Khalil Mack each missed a day of practice this week. They are in good health and should be good to go on Sunday versus the Giants. All three will need to play well down the stretch for the Raiders to make the AFC playoffs.

Defensive lineman Damon Harrison is questionable with an elbow injury. Linebacker B.J. Goodson, linebacker Calvin Munson and wide receiver Sterling Shepard are all expected to play on Sunday for the Giants.
