Best first-round draft picks in Raiders history: 11. Henry Lawrence

Right tackle Henry Lawrence played his entire 13-year NFL career for the Silver and Black. The Raiders selected the offensive lineman with the 19th overall pick in the 1974 NFL Draft out of Florida A&M. Though never a star, Lawrence was solid on the Raiders offensive line for well over a decade with 148 starts in 187 games.

Lawrence has a unique distinction as being part of all three Super Bowl winning teams in Raiders history.

He played on the Super Bowl XI and XV winning teams in Oakland and the Super Bowl XVIII in Los Angeles.

Lawrence also got better with age. He made his two career trips to the Pro Bowl in 1983 and 1984 at 32 and 33 years old, respectively.

From 1977 to his retirement after the 1986 season, the Raiders could count on Lawrence to start at right tackle ever Sunday for the Silver and Black.

What makes Lawrence higher up on this list than his career accomplishments would indicate is that he was a model of consistency for this team. He didn’t play for anybody else and was a no-brainer to start at right tackle for his last 10 NFL seasons. Lawrence might be the most underrated offensive lineman in Raiders football history.
