Hall of Fame Running Back Marcus Allen made an appearance in Las Vegas today and he was nice enough to take pictures will all the fans who showed up, including my son, shown above. He was also gracious enough to answer a few questions for Just Blog Baby! I want to thank Marcus Allen again for taking the time to answer my questions. Be sure to follow him on twitter at @MarcusAllenHOF
Brazy: Hi Mr.Allen, thanks for taking a few minutes to let me ask you some questions. But first my son had a question for you (my son is 7 years old). Go ahead boy, ask him what you had wanted.
Little Brazy: Which team do you like best, the Raiders or the Chiefs?
Marcus Allen: I like every team I played for.
Brazy: For all the great Raiders you played with.
Marcus Allen: Yeah.
Brazy: Some are in the Hall of Fame, some are not. Which one that is not in the Hall of Fame, do you think is most deserving?
Marcus Allen: Oh man. Um, Lester (Hayes). I think Cliff Branch. I think Tom Flores. I mean, you can go on and on.
Brazy: What about a guy like Dave Dalby, 14 years in the league, never missed a start, but only 1 pro bowl.
Marcus Allen: You certainly got to have multiple pro bowls. Dave was awesome, loved playing with him. But the guys that are normally in, they usually go to 7 or more pro bowls and stuff. You know the criteria seems like it’s forever changing and stuff. On one had if you make super bowl appearances, on the other hand if you make multiple pro bowls. How can you compare a guy to Anthony Munoz, who went to a pro bowl every year. But then another guy makes one and he gets in. So you can see where the discrepancy lies.
Brazy: You think Ray Guy is going to get in this year?
Marcus Allen: Oh yeah. He should.
Brazy: I mean, if you are going to put a Punter in…
Marcus Allen: Well it’s amazing, I mean, he was one of the greatest players at his position. The Hall of Fame I don’t necessarily agree with all the time. You know, it’s….
Brazy: It’s an opinion, popularity contest a lot of times they say.
Marcus Allen: I’ve always felt like if the players had a vote, it’d be great, but we don’t have one, so. It’s writers who make the determination and a lot of cases, you know, it comes down to, it’s personal. Whether they like you or not. Spent time with them, gave them an interview and some people hold it against you. You’d be surprised.
Brazy: Maybe it should be like the Heisman, if you are in the Hall of Fame, you get a vote.
Marcus Allen: Yea, I think we certainly know, compared to the rest of the people.
Brazy: Are you on any of the morning NFL shows, now that NBC and CBS have their own sports channels?
Marcus Allen: No, I’m not.
Brazy: Have you given any thought to coaching?
Marcus Allen: No. Never. Never. I’m not into getting into work at 5 in the morning and leaving at 2 in the evening.
Brazy: Did you ever get closure with the whole thing with Al Davis?
Marcus Allen: Absolutely. Absolutely. Everything’s fine.
Brazy: I appreciate the time.
Marcus Allen: My pleasure.
